Oaklands Care Home

Oaklands Care Home is a private care home for older people in the leafy suburb of Methley, south-east from Leeds City Centre. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide residential and special care for adults with dementia, physical disabilities and sensory impairment. 


The Home is well known locally and supports elderly people and their families in Leeds, Wakefield, Methley Village, Castleford and beyond.

Location

Oaklands Care Home is situated in the boundary of Leeds and Castleford on Pinfold Lane, tucked in a quiet and pleasant residential area of Methley. It is within easy access to Leeds and Wakefield’s major hospitals. The Home is also close to a surgery, pharmacy, churches and a post office. Management

Oaklands is owned by a caring couple who both have over 30 years’ experience running homes in the UK. 


Gresh Hardowar is the Registered Manager. He holds a BA in Psychology, (post-grad Certificate in the Education of Adults), Masters in Business Administration and is a Registered General Nurse & Mental Health Nurse. He has extensive knowledge of care and enjoys a very hands-on approach to work. He is in the care Home most days, supporting his team to provide the best care which he feels is very rewarding. He enjoys meeting families and dealing with stakeholders personally.

Staff

Our operational team is a happy, professional force of individuals made up of senior carers, care assistants, cooks, housekeepers, maintenance, an activities co-ordinator, finance and an outsourced admin / HR personnel.


Most of our care staff live locally and are often already acquainted with the families of Residents. Our policy is to safeguard the health and safety of service users and staff as a priority.


The Home operates a selective recruitment policy. It is important to us that all our staff members are personally committed to the Residents’ well - being as well as their own learning and development. Each member receives an in-depth induction before starting. Most of them have received training in first aid, basic hygiene, moving & handling as well as various other specialist courses. Over 60% of our staff have achieved a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and Health Diploma in Social Care training.
